Make adequate arrangements for Shab-e-Meraj, Shivratri: Hakeem Yaseen

Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Chairman Hakeem Yaseen Sunday urged the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to make adequate arrangements for smooth celebrations of ensuring religious festival of Shab-e-Meraj and Shivaratri in Jammu and Kashmir.

A statement of PDF issued here quoted Yaseen as urging the administration for making adequate transport arrangements and availability of essential commodities at reasonable prices for both Muslims and Pandit brethren across Jammu and Kashmir.

He said in view of the prevailing scarcity of mutton in Kashmir, the administration should arrange buffer stocks of fish and vegetables both in towns and villages in addition to Srinagar city so that people are not put to inconvenience.

Yaseen said that these festivals were the hallmark of Kashmir’s centuries-old brotherhood and communal harmony adding that Kashmiryat was incomplete without the coexistence of Muslims and Kashmiri Pandits.

He asked the administration to ensure round-the-clock drinking water and electric supply besides cleanliness and sanitation in and around all Masjids and temples, especially in Kashmir for the convenience of the devotees.

Yaseen also urged the administration to put in place adequate transport facilities for ferrying devotees to-and-fro Dargah Hazratbal and Jamia Masjid to celebrate Shab-e-Meraj.
