A man was arrested along with huge quantity of illegal rare medicinal herbs here, police said on Saturday.
Senior police official from the district said acting on a tipoff, house was raided in Gutlibagh area and huge quantity of rare medicinal herbs was recovered from there.
“…search of a residential house of one Zahoor Ahmad Shah…of Baba Wayil Gutlibagh under the jurisdiction of police post Gutlibagh in Ganderbal and huge quantity of banned forest herbs was recovered, which were seized and the accused was arrested,” said senior superintendent of police Ganderbal Mohammad Khalil Poswal.
He added seized herbs include podophyllum (ban kakri) 181 kg, picrorhiza (koad) 2.3kg, trillium (tripatri) 300 gm, Allium (shuttkaar) 9 kg, sassauria (kuth) 19 kg, sauromatum 10.7 kg.
He added case has been registered, while further investigation has also been taken up in the matter.
