Man held with Rs 2.06 lakh counterfeited currency in Sopore

Police on Tuesday claimed to have apprehended a person with Rs 2.06 lakh counterfeited Indian currency.

Police official said, a naka was established at Goripora Darpora crossing in jurisdiction of Police Station Bomai Sopore by a team headed by SHO Police Station Bomai Inspector Imtiaz Ahmad.

   

During naka checking police saw two persons coming from Rashidabad side towards Bomia. On seeing naka party,  the two suspected persons tried to flee from the spot ,but the police apprehended one person namely Ghulam Hussain Gojar Lohar S/O Wali Mohammad Lohar of Devar Lolab Kupwara.

During his search, an amount of Rs 2.06 lakh counterfeited Indian currency was recovered from his possession where as other person managed to flee from the spot, the police said.

During questioning the arrested person disclosed the identity of another person as Ali Mohammad Mir R/O Janwara Sopore.

In this regard case FIR No. 57/2020 U/S 489B, 489C  was registered at P/S Bomai and investigation is in progress.
