The post graduate students at Budgam satellite campus of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Sunday urged the administration to cancel their winter vacations for compensating the academic losses. The vacations are likely to start from December 15.
The demand for cancellation of the vacation comes in wake of the academic losses suffered by the students during past more than three months when the educational institutions across Kashmir remained closed post August 5, the day government of India abrogated Article 370 of Constitution.
“We couldn’t attend classes owing to which major portion of our syllabus is incomplete. We want to continue our classes during winter months and later appear in exams,” said a group of 3rd semester students.
The MANUU runs in a building of a College of education in Humhama area of Budgam as construction of the main campus was yet to be started.
The students urged the authorities to schedule their 3rd semester exams in February after full preparation by them.
“We were supposed to appear in exams in first week of December but our syllabus was not completed on time due to the closure of educational institutions. We should be given some time to prepare for the exams,” the students said.
