Markets re-open in Ganderbal after 9 days

Markets re-opened in this central Kashmir district on Monday after nine days after authorities had imposed strict restriction amid surge in COVID19 cases.

Many shopkeepers said they were following all guidelines issued by the authorities to prevent further spread of COVID19. Many shopkeepers had pasted messages outside their shops, reading: “No entry without mask”.

“We are taking all precautions like wearing masks and encouraging customers as well to follow COVID SOPS, keeping hand sanitizers available and avoiding large gatherings in or outside our shops,” said Sheikh Junaid, a shopkeeper.

At several places, however, social distancing norms were not being followed and people including customers were seen assembled in large numbers.
