Masarat Aalam presented in court, shifted back to Kot Balwal jail

Incarcerated chairman of Muslim League (ML) Jammu Kashmir Masrat Aalam was today produced before a court here for trial and shifted back to Kote Balwal Jail, Jammu, a ML spokesman said in a statement.

“Masarat Aalam Bhat was today brought  here from Kote Bhalwal Jail to appear before the CJM Srinagar for an FIR No. 50/2010 registered against him by Kothibagh Police station here.  The next hearing of the case is scheduled on  30 Jan, 2019. After the hearing, Masarat Aalam was taken back to Kote Bhalwal Jail Jammu,” the spokesman said.

“Aalam is languishing in jail since long, however, it is quite disheartening that he is being subjected to vengeance by state authorities. He is the worst victim of political vendetta and is denied political space under a well planned conspiracy,” he said.

The spokesman urged the United Nations, OIC, Human Rights Council, Red Cross, Amnesty International and other human rights bodies to come forward and take strong note and cognizance of “illegal  detention” of Masrat Alam and get him released.
