‘MCC an excuse for misgovernance in J&K’

The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) president Er Rasheed has sought immediate redressal of burning issues pertaining to common masses.

“The so-called model code of conduct (MCC) has become anexcuse and silly argument to those officers who don’t want to deliver and treatthemselves beyond accountability,” a spokesman of the AIP, in a statementtoday, quoted Er Rasheed as having said while interacting with people duringhis day-long visit to Kupwara constituency.

Er Rasheed said: “Be it power crises or restoration ofdrinking water supply and other basic amenities, most of the officers have justone line answer that there is a model code of conduct in place. It isdisgusting and shameful that the damaged transformers are lying in PDDworkshops since months and concerned authorities don’t pay any heed towardsgenuine grievances of masses”.

He said the functioning of education, health and othersectors has been kept hostage to the model code of conduct. While there is nomodel or moral code of conduct for the corrupt Babus, even routine files of thecommon man are being thrown into dustbin with the excuse that there is a modelcode of conduct in place.

Er Rasheed urged the governor to take serious note ofsufferings of masses and ensure that all essential services run without anyinterruptions and excuses.
