Mehbooba’s outrage ironical: Hurriyat (M)

Hurriyat Conference (M) on Tuesday said that Mehbooba Mufti condemning the Jamia Masjid incident is quiet ironical.

In a statement here a spokesman of the amalgam said, “Mehbooba Mufti’s phone call to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq  to condemn the Jamia incident which she is broadcasting in media for obvious reasons, is quiet ironical. It was during her tenure as the chief minister that the mosque was sealed on many occasions but people were prevented from offering Friday prayers.”

“In 2016 it was locked down for three months, in 2017 for the first time even Juma t-ul-vida congregation was not allowed during Ramadan and in 2018 for 16 Fridays prayers people were not allowed to offer the congregational prayers in the mosque.  On all these days Mirwaiz was either put under house arrest or in jail,” the spokesman added.

“If Mufti during her tenure as Chief Minister had the same feelings towards Jamia Masjid which she calls the landmark and most important religious and social institution of Kashmir at whose desecration she is outraged today, and had shown the courage to stand up for the religious rights of the Muslims of the Valley instead of presiding over the bans and bars on Jamia Masjid then her outrage would at least have been sincere.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson of  Dukhtaran-e-Millat also hit out at Mehbooba Mufti for what she called  “fooling the people” of Kashmir and condemning  the desecration of Jamia Masjid .

In a statement, the DeM spokesperson said, “Whoever has held power in Jammu and Kashmir have used the people of Kashmir for their chair.”
