Mention name, designation in official correspondences, revenue officers told

The Revenue department has made it mandatory for subordinate officers to mention name and designation in official correspondence.

“In pursuance to thedirections received from Principal Secretary Revenue J&K, all subordinaterevenue officers are directed to mention name and designation while makingofficial correspondence and issuing Government documents,” reads a circular.

   

The circular reads thatany official correspondence or order, not adhering to this rule, would bereturned and official concerned shall be held liable for contempt of governmentinstructions.

It reads that Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Girdawar,Qanoongos, Patwaris and even senior officers do not follow the instructionswhile acting as revenue officers or passing orders as magistrates, which wasvolatile of spirit of transparency and right of public to information.

Tehsildars have beendirected to indentify genuine stamp makers and get the stamps with name anddesignation prepared under his/her order and get them issued to all RevenueOfficers.

Tehsildars have also been directed to ensure that as soon asnew incumbent joins within their jurisdiction, they shall be issued the stamps.

“Similarly (Tehsildars) should impound the stamps of thosewho get transferred out of their respective jurisdictions scrupulously,” readsthe circular.
