Mian Altaf seeks resumption of work on 2 bridges in Kangan

Senior National Conference leader and former MLA Kangan, Mian Altaf Ahmed, Thursday expressed dismay over the dilapidated condition of roads in Ganderbal district.

Mian Altaf expressed concern over the “suspension” of thework on the Tangchahter bridge over nallah Sindh in Kangan, which connects overa dozen villages with the tehsil headquarters.

   

He, in a statement issued here, said that a temporaryfootbridge over nallah Sindh was washed away by flash floods a day before whichhas completely left the area disconnected.

He said the government should resume the construction workon the bridge so that the people of the area have durable and permanentconnectivity. “A temporary footbridge should be constructed till the completionof the main bridge,” he said.

He said the construction work of Akhal bridge was going onat a snail’s pace and “it (the work) has been left midway.”

“Many important roads including Nagbal-Beehama,Beehama-Wayil, Kangan- Chahtergul, Akhal-Hariganiwan via Hayan palpora are in adilapidated condition causing inconvenience to the people,” the formerlegislator said, adding that all these roads need to be upgraded andmaintained.

Mian Altaf urged the Governor administration to resume thework on these bridges and take up the upgradation work of the roads which arein a dilapidated condition.
