Police on Tuesday busted a module of Hizbul Mujahedeen militant outfit by arresting a militant and his four associates, said a police official.
The arrested persons have been identified as Pervaiz Ahmed Bhat, Altaf Ahmed Mir, Ghulam Muhammad, Nazimuddin Gujjar, and Abdul Quayoom.
The official said arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession including one AK-47 rifle, two pistols and ammunition.
While addressing media at Kupwara, Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Shari Ram Ambarkar said based on specific inputs, police and CRPF personals Monday evening raided several places at Lalpora Lolab and arrested the Hizb militant, Parvez Ahmad.
He said in subsequent raids the four associates of the outfit were also arrested. “From last few months, we have successfully arrested militant associates who were involved in weapon and narcotic smuggling. As part of our sustaining efforts to bust such modules, we successfully unearthed Hizb module at Lolab Kupwara on Monday,” the SSP said.
