Militant arrested along with arms and ammunition in Handwara: Police

Government forces on Monday claimed to have arrested a militant in Humpora village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A police official said that a cordon-and-search-operation was launched following inputs about the presence of a militant in Humpora village.

   

“A joint team of army’s 30RR, 92 BN CRPF and Handwara police apprehended the militant alive along with arms and ammunition,” he said.

The militant was identified as Waqar Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Rahman Malik, resident of Check Tulawaru of Handwara. 

“An AK 47 rifle, 613 rounds, one UBGL and a carrying bag was recovered from his possession,” said the official.
