The security forces on Tuesday arrested one active militant and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession, police said.
A statement said based on credible information, Bandipora police along with army’s 13RR and C-Coy of IRP 8th Bn arrested the militant identified as Subzar Ahmad Rather @ Aatish Bhai of Awneera Shopian, from Check Chandrageer area of Hajin, Bandipora.
“Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one pistol, one pistol magazine and four pistol rounds were recovered from his possession. He had recently joined LeT and was tasked to carry out subversive activities in and around Hajin area,” said the statement.
It said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Hajin and further investigation has been initiated.
