Militant killed in Baramulla shootout

A militant was killed in a brief shootout at Shutloo villagein Rafiabad area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday afternoon,reports said.

Report said that a joint team of 32 RR and SOG interceptedthe militants at a naka set up in Shutloo village after getting specific inputsabout the movement of militants.

   

After being intercepted, the exchange of fire took placebetween the militants and the security forces, he said. “In the exchange ofgunfire, one militant was killed so far and searches in the area are stillgoing on,” he said.

The slain militant was reportedly identified as MudasirAhmad Bhat, a local resident, who had joined militancy only a week ago.

Bhat was a Hafiz (who knows Quran by heart) and used to leadprayers at a mosque in Sopore before going missing last week along with fourother youths in Baramulla district.

The sopore police had earlier issued a press release seekingwhereabouts of the five missing youth, including Bhat.
