Militants attack army vehicle

Suspected militants attacked an army vehicle in Kachdoora hamlet of Shopian district on Monday. However, there was no report of any casualty from either side.

An official said that militants fired few gunshots at the vehicle of the commanding officer of 34 Rashtriya Rifles in Kachdoora area. The army personnel retaliated by firing several shots, leading to a brief exchange of fire.

   

Soon after the incident, the security forces cordoned off the area to nab the attackers, they said.

Speaking to Greater Kashmir, superintendent of police Shopian, AmbarkarShriramDinkar confirmed the incident. “An army patrolling vehicle was attacked by militants. Police party reached the spot to nab the attackers but they had fled.”

No loss of life has been reported in the incident, SP said.
