Militants attack Newa, Kakapora camps, CRPF man injured

A trooper of the Central Reserve Police Force was wounded Tuesday in Pulwama when suspected militants attacked their camp, officials said. 

A security official said, militants fired towards the CRPF camp 183, located in Newa area this after noon. The troopers on duty returned the fire, leading to a brief exchange.

   

During the incident a CRPF trooper, indentified as Moyeen Khan sustained bullet injury in his shoulder and was immediately shifted to the nearest hospital for treatment. 

His condition was said to be stable. 

A security source said the attackers lobbed a grenade before making their escape good. 

Soon afterwards, forces of Jammu and Kashmir police, Army’s Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF rushed to the area and conducted searches to nab the assailants.

Militants attack CRPF camp at Kakapora

Militants on Tuesday night fired a rifle grenade at a CRPF camp at Kakapora in Pulwama district. The blast was also followed by heavy firing. A police official said at around 10:20 pm militants fired a UBGL at the camp of 183 battalion of CRPF stationed near railway station in Kakapora. “The attack was followed by heavy firing by the militants,” the official said, adding the CRPF men returned the fire. However, according to the official, there were no immediate reports about any casualties or injuries.

Soon after the attack the entire area was cordoned off to nab the attackers, the officer said. This was the second attack on CRPF in past 24 hours.
