Militants killed in Pulwama gunfight affiliated with Jaish; top commander among slain

A top commander of the Jaish-e-Muhammad was among the three militants slain in a gunfight with the security forces in southern Pulwama district, officials said.

Three militants, army soldier and a civilian were killed in a gunfight in Dalipora area of Pulwama town early Thursday.

An official identified the slain militants as JeM commander Khalid Bhai (resident of Pakistan), Naseer Ahmad Pandith of Kareemabad Pulwama and Umar Ahmad Mir of Bhartipora Shopian.

The slain soldier was identified as Sandeep Kumar of 55R while the slain civilian was identified as Rayees Ahmad Dar S/o Jalal-u-Din Dar.

His brother, Mohd Younis Dar, who was also injured during the gunfight was shifted to a hospital in Srinagar for treatment.

 “Three army soldiers injured during the gunfight were evacuated to 92 Base hospital in Srinagar,” said the official.
