Gunfight breaks out in south Kashmir's Anantnag

Gunfight broke out between the militants and the security forces on Tuesday at a village in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.

In a tweet, police said that an exchange of fire took place while the area was being cordoned off.

An official said the firing exchange took place in Wubzan village of the district.

Meanwhile, news agency GNS, while quoting sources, reported that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

It said the gunfight broke out after the joint teams of the police and the army launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the area.
