Mir’s killing security lapse: Monga

While condemning the killing of BJP leader Ghulam Muhammad Mir, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice-president and former MLC G N Monga today castigated the government for withdrawing security cover of political leaders in the state.

In a statement he said the decision to withdraw and curtailsecurity to politicians made them more vulnerable to threats due prevailing securityand law and order situation in the state particularly in the Valley.

   

“The killing of Mir is a security lapse and Government mustfix the responsibility as who were the officers who withdrew security ofpolitical leaders. Why was such a decision taken in haste when the overallsecurity situation in Kashmir was not conducive. Withdrawing the security coverof several Congress leaders also hampered the party’s poll campaign, especiallyin the militancy-hit south Kashmir region,” Monga said.The Congress leader urged the Government toimmediately revoke the order so that political leaders can participate indemocratic process without any fear.
