Mirwaiz Ahmedullah Shah remembered on his 89th death anniversary

The Anjuman-e-Nusratul Islam today paid glowing tributes to prominent religious scholar and its founding president, Mirwaiz Moulana Ahmedullah Shah (RA) on his 89 th death anniversary.

The Anjuman in a statement said that late Mirwaiz Shah wouldalways be remembered with honour and dignity for launching a powerful campaignagainst the illiteracy. “He preached Islam in its true and pristine form to thepeople of Kashmir,” it said.

   

The Anjuman said that Mirwaiz Shah was a great religiousscholar and will be always remembered for his historic decision of risingagainst the then autocratic regime.

He will also be remembered for signing a memorandum sent tothe then Viceroy for which he was subjected to various forms of repression atthe hands of the then autocratic government.

It said, “Despite all odds, Mirwaiz Shah remained steadfasttill his last breath.”

The Anjuman said it was under the aegis of Mirwaiz Shah thatthe foundation stone of Anjuman-e-Nusratul Islam and Oriental College were laidand both the institutions continue to shine till the present times and areknown for spreading quality education and knowledge including Islamic studiesas well. 

The Anjuman said on July 19 (Friday) special prayers forlate Mirwaiz Shah will be organized at the historic Jamia Masjid where MirwaizUmar Farooq will also highlight his contribution to social, political andreligious fields.
