Mirwaiz barred from chairing crucial meet: Hurriyat

Hurriyat Conference (M) Monday strongly denounced the continuous house detention of the chairman of the amalgam Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his residence for over two weeks now.

In statement issued here, the Hurriyat said that Mirwaiz’s Nigeen residence has been turned into a permanent sub-jail where heavy deployment of police always remains outside the entrance.

“Mirwaiz was supposed to chair APHC’s general, executive council and working committee meeting, but as he continued to stay detained at home the meeting was cancelled,” the statement said. “The recent announcement by authorities that Hurriyat leaders were free to move anywhere proved to be humbug as Mirwaiz and other leaders including Syed Ali Geelani and Muhammad Yasin Malik remain under police detention most of the time.” GKNN
