Mirwaiz demands justice for 57 civilians killed in 1993 Sopore massacre

Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday said that despite passing of 25 years into Sopore massacre justice has still eluded Kashmiris.

Saying that India is rightly asking United Kingdom to apologise for Jallianwala Bagh massacre, Mirwaiz asked government of India “when will justice be done into the incident as it has been eluded from past 25 years”.

   

Mirwaiz while taking to Twitter wrote: “As India rightly asks UK to apologise for the brutal #JalianWalaBaghMassacre,we in #Kashmir today are commemorating 25 years of one of the scores of such massacres that we have suffered.The #SoporeMayhem when 57 civilians were brutally killed in cold blood by the Indian forces…”

In another tweet, Mirwaiz said: “and property including 120 houses and 400 shops burnt down by them and none of the perpetrators held accountable.When will we get justice we ask?”

57 civilians were killed in Border Security Force (BSF) firing on this day in 1993.
