Missing Pattan driver found dead after 13 days

A driver missing from his home in Mamoosa area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was found dead on Thursday, police said.

The body of Jan Muhammad son of Muhammad Assadullah wasretrieved on Thursday from a Nallah in Chaenbal.

   

He was a driver by profession.

SSP Baramulla Abdul Qayoom told Greater Kashmir that policehave found the body of Jan Muhammad from a Nallah.

“We have retrieved the body from a Nallah. Apparently, itlooks like a case of murder. The body has severe head injuries,” SSP BaramullaAbdul Qayoom told Greater Kashmir.

Jan Muhammad, according to his family members, had gonemissing on 22nd March after he left his home to attend a court hearing in acivil case.

The family had staged a protest at the Press Enclave inSrinagar on March 29 to demand his whereabouts. They had sought the help of thestate governor Satya Pal Malik to trace Jan Muhammad.

The family had lodged a missing report at the concernedpolice station on March 22.

After the body was found today, the locals assembled inPattan chowk and held protests against the killing.
