ML condemns arrest of pro-freedom leaders

Muslim League (M) Jammu Kashmir, headed by incarcerated senior leader Masarat Aalam Bhat, today condemned the arrest of pro-freedom leaders and activists across Kashmir ahead of World Human rights day being observed on December 10.

“Muslim League strongly condemned the mass arrests of leaders and activists across Kashmir especially in Srinagar followed by nocturnal raids on the residences of pro-freedom activists ahead of the world human rights day. What can be more ironical than this that a massive crackdown has been launched to even stop peaceful events organised for commemorating human rights week against the grave human rights violations taking place in Jammu Kashmir,” the ML spokesman Sajjad Ayoubi said in a statement.

“Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq continue to remain caged in their respective homes. JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik whose health deteriorated during police custody has been hospitalized. Police have intensified its nocturnal raids on the residences of the middle-rung leaders of the parties headed by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL),” he said, condemning the arrest of traders’ leader Muhammad Yasin Khan and others.
