Senior Congress leader and MLA Bandipora Usman Majid on Monday said that standing crops in scores of villages in his constituency have suffered huge losses due to turbulent winds and hailstorms which hit Bandipora on Sunday evening.Â
In a statement, Majid said that paddy fields were flattened at certain places and fruit orchards also suffered damages. ” I appeal to Governor Satyapal Malik and district administration to provide ex-gratia relief to the affected farmers and fruit traders immediately till their losses are assessed by the joint teams of Horticulture, Agriculture and Revenue officers for loss compensation,” he said.Â
