Move employees in Jammu to boycott duties from Monday, cite insecurity

Fearing attacks on their families putting up at the government quarters in Jammu, the darbar move (non-secretariat) employees’ federation have decided to boycott their official duties from Monday.

State president of the association, Owais Wani told Greater Kashmir that their families won’t be safe if the male members will leave for their duties in offices.

“We have every apprehension of attacks on our females if we (males) will leave them alone in quarters in Jammu. So we have decided to boycott our duties and safeguard our families here,” he said.

Wani also appealed the Governor Satya Pal Malik to make arrangements for the families of darbar move employees saying that they were not able to feed them properly because of curfew in the city following massive violence against Kashmiris and local Muslims.

“We are facing dearth of essential commodities here in Jammu due to which we are not able to feed our families here,” he said and appealed to the divisional Commissioner Jammu to make arrangements of essential commodities for employees putting up at government quarters.

Wani also appealed to the Jammu based employees to cooperate with them. “We appeal to our employees working in Kashmir and those who are on leave to join the protest programme of Joint Coordination committee tomorrow at Srinagar Press enclave,” he appealed.
