Musk deer captured in Kangan

A musk deer roaming in the fields near Manasbal forest range was captured by locals at Aanderwan-Manigam in Kangan on Tuesday.

The local residents informed wildlife authorities and team of officials reached the spot and took the animal in their procession.

   

Later the musk deer was taken to Dachigam wildlife sanctuary.

A wildlife official said that the musk deer was frightened and had come down from forests following the recent snowfall. 

The Kashmir musk deer (Moschus cupreus) is an endangered species of musk deer native to Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and Baltal region in Kashmir.
