A mysterious explosion near a camp of paramilitary forces in Sopore created panic on Monday, sending shop shutters down as panicked people ran to safer places.
The blast was heard near the camp of 179 battalion of CRPFstationed in Igbal Market of the busy town.
Police later said the sound of the blast came from afirecracker and no causalities were reported.
Seniour superintendent of police for Sopore, Javid Iqbalsaid the blast was heard near the CRPF camp at the townhall building and a teamof police personnel was sent to the spot to ascertain facts.
Iqbal said that everything was normal in the town and theteam that the sound of the blast had come from a firecracker.
The SSP added that police were still investigating theincident.
