Mysterious blast in scrap shop kills 1

A scrap dealer was killed while three others were injured on Thursday when some explosive material went off in a scrap shop at Chidder village of southern Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

A police official said as the workers inside the shop set onfire some trash some explosive material lying in it suddenly went off atChidder-Ashmji village.

   

“One person died on the spot in this mysterious blast whilethree others suffered serious injuries,” he said.

The deceased was identified as Nazir Ahmad Bhat son of AbdulKhaliq Bhat.

The injured, Muhmad Abbas Bhat, Muhammad Yousuf Bhat andMuhamad Yawar Bhat – all relatives from the same village – were removed to ahospital in Qaimoh wherefrom they were later sent to district hospital Anantnagfor specialised treatment.

“Abbas has grievous injuries in the right hand, face, legsand chest while Yousuf has injury in the left finger,” a doctor at the Anantnaghospital said.

Police registered a case and an investigation into theincident has been taken up.

Meanwhile, a police handout said: “In Chidder area ofKulgam, a mysterious blast occurred inside the shop of scrap dealer.

“The workers inside the shop were dismantling the newlyarrived scrap, a blast happened inside the shop. Consequently three personssustained injuries in this incident, in which one person identified as NazirAhmad Bhat succumbed while as two other injured persons identified as MohammadAbdullah and Yawar Ahmad sustained critical injuries.

“The injured persons have been evacuated to hospital wherethey are undergoing medical treatment for their injuries.”
