Narrow escape for family as Chinar falls on house in Tral

A family of eight had a miraculous escape after a Chinar tree fell on their residential house at Dardsara village of Tral township of Pulwama district, here Monday night.

Owing to heavy rains and strong winds, a Chinar tree camecrashing down on the house of Ghulam Qadir Mir son of Abdul Ahad Mir ofDardsara.

   

All the eight family members were inside the house.

The tree crushed the roof and front side of the singlestoried brick house, resulting in loss worth lakhs of rupees to the house.

“Fortunately, none of the family members suffered anyinjuries,” a source said.

“Amid heavy rains and strong winds, we were sleeping whensuddenly we heard a big bang which shook our house and we ran for safety.Moments later we saw a Chinar tree had fallen on our house damaging it badly.Fortunately all the family members escaped unhurt,” said Mir, owner of thehouse.

He claimed that he had many times requested authorities tocut branches of the tree, fearing they might cause any untoward incident duringwindy conditions.

A revenue official visited the spot to prepare compensationcase for the effected family.
