The Jammu and KashmirNational Conference on Thursday said the party will not meet the ElectionCommission of India team in Srinagar.

A spokesperson of theparty said that J&K National Conference has decided not to meet the ECIdelegation.

“NC has already madeits position clear on LS and LA elections in the state. Our demand of havingsimultaneous Assembly and LS elections in the state in our earlier meetingswith the ECI team remains as it is.”

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced seven-phase parliamentary polls, but decided not to hold assembly elections in J&K, which is presently under the president’s rule.

Meanwhile, amid growing criticism of the election commission of India’s decision to withhold assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, three “special observers” appointed by the poll-body will arrive in Srinagar on Thursday to “assess the ground situation” for holding the state elections.
