National Conference seeks relief for hailstorm-hit growers

National Conference Saturday expressed grief over the losses to people following heavy hailstorm across the Valley, urging the incumbent Governor administration to come to the rescue of people in distress.

MP from Anantnag, Hasnain Masoodi while expressing anguishover the heavy material losses to orchard owners and other marginalized farmersin south Kashmir said, “The incessant rains and hail storm have destroyedvarious standing crops across south Kashmir districts.”

   

He said the orchard owners have suffered irreversible lossesto their orchards. “Areas like Pakharpora, Trichal, Rajpura, Bubgam, Thahab,Maspona, Gabarpura, Panzijageer, Aribal stand worst hit due to the vagaries ofcalamitous weather,” he said.

“I urge the governor administration to wake up from theslumber and depute revenue teams to the affected areas to ascertain thematerial losses to farmers, orchardists. I also urge the divisionaladministration to ensure speedy compensation to affected households as well,”he in a statement said.

Moreover, the administration should resume road connectivityto the affected areas on priority.

Meanwhile party’s senior leader and MP from BaramullaMohammad Akbar Lone has urged the divisional administration to come to therescue of people who have been severally hit by the vagaries of weather.
