NC leader escapes unhurt, guard killed in Pulwama attack

Suspected militants on Monday fired at the car of National Conference leader and former Rajpora MLA Ghulam Mohiudin at Murran in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, killing his personal security officer and leaving another injured.

An official said that Mohudin escaped unhurt in the attack.

   

However, two of his personal security officers (PSOs) were critically injured in the attack, he said. “The attackers also decamped with two rifles,” he said.

He said one of the injured cops, identified as Mudasir Ahmad, was killed.

Police version:

Militants in the afternoon hours today fired indiscriminately at the policemen in Muran village of Pulwama district who were accompanying ex-MLA Rajpora Ghulam Mohiudin.

“The Protected person is safe and secure. However, one of his PSOs Mudasir who was from district Police has attained martyrdomwhile the other PSO Nasir from security wing is stable,” said a spokesman, in a statement.

“Apparently”, he said, the militants have snatched the weapons of the policemen after the firing incident. 

“Police has registered the case and investigation into the instant matter has been initiated,” he said.

Based on the initial probe, it is learnt that Zahoor Thokar group of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit is involved in it.
