NC takes up Pandit voters’ issue with JK CEO

National Conference on Thursday met J&K Chief Electoral Officer Shailendra Kumar to take up with him problems faced by migrant Kashmir Pandit voters.

A party statement said that the delegation led by former MLCVijay Bakaya met Kumar and raised various issues and problems faced by theKashmiri Pandit voters in casting their ballots.

   

“The delegation apprised the CEO in detail that the processof filling M Forms was still cumbersome despite being available online.

“It was stated that names were not registered at the pollingbooths as per M Forms and many names were misspelt. It was requested that theprocedure be further simplified,” it said.

According to the statement, the CEO said that many stepshave been taken to make the process easier, and that postal ballots could beused instead of M Forms as an option.

“It was agreed that the CEO would organize awareness campsin Jammu and also train volunteers to inform the voters about the existingprocess and to take suggestions to further facilitate the participation of theKashmiri Pandit migrants in the democratic process,” it said.

Thousands of Kashmiri Pandit migrant voters belonging toevery voting segments in the Valley are living outside after their mass exodusin 1990s following the eruption of separatist violence in Kashmir.
