Need greater interaction of officers at grassroots: Sajad Lone

Peoples Conference Chairman, Sajad Gani Lone, Monday asserted that there is an immediate need for greater interaction of officers at grassroots to provide a bridge between the government and citizens that promises a more effective and efficient governance delivery system.

Lone issued the statement while kick-starting his party’soutreach program ‘Salaam-wa-Kalaam’ in district Kupwara.

   

Addressing the public at Nechhama, Satkoji, Butshungi,Behnipora, Rajpora, Ahgam and Zachaldara, Lone said, “People in far flung areasare facing immense hardships. There is growing disconnect between theGovernor’s administration and people of the state. People are showing up indroves in government departments and demanding to be heard. It is up toofficials at every level of the government to listen to and work with thepeople.”

He further said that in order to benefit the local populaceof the area, it is imperative upon the government to increase the pace ofpublic works.

“The work on Bungus road, Handwara hospital and other projectsis going on at a snail’s pace. It is imperative upon the administration to fasttrack unfinished developmental and welfare projects in the area,” he said.

Talking about the hardships faced by the family members ofdisappeared persons in the area, the PC Chairman said, “There is an acuteproblem of disappeared persons, wherein the police have lodged FIRs showingthese people to have crossed the border. While there is no proof to support theclaim, their families are put through an ordeal. Instead of being compensatedfor their losses, they are being punished for crime they have not committed,”he said.
