Neolithic Period in Kashmir discussed at IKS

The Institute of Kashmir Studies (IKS), University of Kashmir (KU) organised a public talk on ‘Revisiting Neolithic Kashmir: Approaches and Methods’ by Prof Aijaz A. Bandey, former Director, Centre for Central Asian Studies, KU.

Prof Muhammad Yusuf Ganai, Director, IKS welcomed the invited speaker, and introduced the public lecture series to the audience. The audience included faculty members, research scholars and students from social sciences at the university.

Prof Bandey deliberated upon key features and rich heritage of the Neolithic period in Kashmir. Speaking from his own experience, he asked the students to give special attention to research methodology and to engage critically with Kashmir’s history. The talk was followed by an engaging discussion on the period. Deliberating on the importance of quality research on Kashmir’s pasts, Prof Ganie concluded the session and presented the vote of thanks.
