NFCH provides financial assistance to 6650 students

Secretary National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), Manoj Pant, along with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole today reviewed the status of implementation of Project Assist financial assistance scheme for care and education of students affected in militancy related incidents in Kashmir.

In this regard, the Secretary NFCH chaired a meeting with all Deputy Commissioners through videoconferencing. Director Social Welfare and District Social Welfare Officers also attended the meeting.

   

The secretary said that NFCH has extended benefits to as many as 6650 students from Jammu and Kashmir so far.

Instructing Deputy Commissioners to ensure conducting of career counseling sessions for these students, the Secretary called for prompt renewal of existing cases and instructed concerned to identify and adopt new cases so that financial support is provided to maximum number of eligible students.

He said besides providing financial assistance to the students so that they continue their studies and live their normal life, the NFCH also conducts exposure tours, youth festivals, music festivals and  provide opportunities to children to see many places and interact with students from other states.

He emphasized on early identification of new cases and prompt issuance of required documents for early release of financial assistance to students.

On the occasion,  the Div Com directed all Deputy Commissioners to speed up in submitting new cases before March ending so that all deserving students get benefited under project assist scheme.

He said that a youth festival shall also be conducted in Kashmir for message of peace, brotherhood and harmony.
