NGT committee reviews solid waste disposal in city

The Minister emphasized to ensure continuous campaigns and constant capacity building involving students at school level, college level, NGO’s and other sections for greater results

The committee constituted by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday assessed the disposal of solid waste in the summer capital. 

The members of the committee held a meeting Minister of Roads and Buildings, Floriculture, Gardens and Parks, Syed Altaf Bukhari. He stressed for vigorously monitoring the project for better sanitation of the Srinagar city.

Later, the members under the chairpersonship of Sanchita Jindal, Director Ministry of Environment and Forests held a meeting with SMC officials.  On the occasion, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation Tufail Matoo through a Power Point Presentation highlighted status and practices of Solid Waste Management. 

Later Jindal emphasized on immediate commissioning of compost plant, ensuring segregation of waste besides creating awareness among common people. The members later visited the at Leachate Plant at Saidpora Achen.
