Reports said that clashes erupted after forces resorted to teargas shelling and pellet firing after scores of protesters tried to march towards the main chowk from Eidgah.

Over a dozen protesters were injured in clashes with government forces in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.

Reports said that clashes erupted after forces resorted to teargas shelling and pellet firing after scores of protesters tried to march towards the main chowk from Eidgah.

"Some protesters pelted the forces deployed in the area with stones. The forces responded by pellet firing and teargas shelling," said a witness.

Over ten protesters sustained pellet injuries, he said, adding that the injured were shifted to Sub-district Hospital Sopore for treatment.
