‘Notorious’ drug peddler arrested in Sopore: Police

A “notorious” drug peddler was arrested by Sopore police on Tuesday and large quantity of contraband substance was recovered from his possession, police said.

The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Nasir Ahmad Khawja, resident of Seelo Sopore. He was arrested during a naka laid at Shangergund Sopore on Tuesday.  “We have recovered 143 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon plus and 12 bottles of codeine from his possession.

   

The senior superintendent of police Sopore, Javed Iqbal, said that the arrested person was a key link in the supply of drugs in various parts of the town. “The recovered drugs were meant to be distributed among the youth of the town,” said SSP sopore.

The SSP said that Sopore police has initiated war against drug menace which has destroyed several families. He said as part of their consistent fight against drug menace, five drug peddlers have already been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA), while 33 drug peddlers were arrested under NDPS act.
