Now, only ‘promising human resource’ to be posted in SIE, DIETs

The school education department has decided to post only “promising human resource” in the district institutes of education and training (DIETs) and state institute of education (SIE) Kashmir.

The step has been taken following outcry over the “selective postings” of some masters and lecturers by the department in these premier institutes for prolonged periods in violation of norms.

   

An order issued by the director school education Kashmir (DSEK) G N Itoo states that the teachers, masters and lecturers should submit applications in a given format to the directorate for their posting in the DIETs and the SIE.

“The SIE and the DIETs are the premier institutes for continuous teacher professional development which directly or indirectly impacts school improvement programme. The effectiveness of the SIE and the DIET has a bearing on the achievement levels of the children and performances of teachers,” reads the DSEK order.

“In order to make the SIE and the DIETs strong, the promising human resource needs to be posted in the SIE and the DIETs,” it reads.

The department has decided to make the posting in the DIETs and the SIEs on basis of merit and experience so as to ensure that the “right teachers” and teacher educators are posted in these academic institutes.

Greater Kashmir had earlier reported about the flawed posting of teaching faculty in these institutes.

As per the order, the department will scrutinise the qualification of teachers and will assess their ability in conducting research workshop and teacher training. On basis of this the faculty will be deputed to these institutes for a fixed tenure of two to three years.

Meanwhile, the teaching faculty has hailed the new decision of the government citing that the move will streamline the functioning of the SIE and the DIETs.

“It was a long cherished dream to convert these institutions into a true resource cum teacher learning centres. With this talent hunt people having best pedagogical skills, research aptitude and command over the content and expertise in curriculum material development shall get a chance to serve in these institutes,” a statement issued by teaching fraternity of Baramulla district said.
