Oath ceremony of Kashmir Press Club’s body held

The newly elected executive and the management committee members of the Kashmir Press Club (KPC) today took oath of the office.

The oath ceremony was held in presence of the electioncommission, two eminent lawyers and scores of journalists during a functionorganised at the club premises.

   

“Soon after taking over the management committee heldits maiden meeting and deliberated upon various important issues concerning theclub. The committee adopted a resolution to take welfare steps for the membersof the club. It was decided that a welfare fund would be created for thepurpose and also a sub-committee would be setup to suggest more such welfaremeasures for the members,” KPC spokesperson said in a statement.

“It was also decided that a separate sub-committeewould be constituted to look into steps for developing the club infrastructureand create more facilities. The steps intended to be taken on priority basisinclude setting up of a fitness and health centre, a well-furnished restaurant,library and a separate lounge with workstations for the journalist members. Inthis regards the club solicits cooperation of the administration and concerneddepartments for improving the basic infrastructure in the premises,” itsaid.

“It was further decided to constitute an academicsub-committee for organising, coordinating workshops, trainings, guest lecturesfor the journalists both from English and vernacular media for their capacitybuilding. The committee also decided to dedicate a separate lounge inside theclub for the female journalists with an aim to promote and encourage theirparticipation in the club activities,” the statement added.
