Orphans in Need (OiN), a charitable organisation, on Friday distributed food parcels among orphans and widows in the run up to Ramadhan.
Each food parcel, distributed among the beneficiaries,contained packets of rice, flour and other food items.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, SSPSrinagar Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, SP East Srinagar Dawood Ahmad and directorfloriculture Abdul Hafiz Shah attended the occasion.
Chairman of the organisation Anis Muhammed Musa said, “Ihave been working tirelessly for many years to improve lives of poor andvulnerable people. This hasn’t always been easy and over many years I havefaced difficulties…” he said.
He addressed the beneficiaries and stressed upon the mothersto send their children to school and educate them for a bright future.
President of the organisation Zubair Hussain Gull said theyhave been “distributing food parcels on a regular basis throughout the Valleyfor past five years”. He promised to continue the good work.A statement issued by the organisation said inthe coming days it will distribute food parcels in different villages ofKupwara and Poonch districts.
