On International Women’s day, Srinagar police pledges to ensure safety of women

The district police Srinagar pledged to ensure safety of womenfolk in the district on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

News agency KNO quoted Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Dr Haseeb Mughal saying that reports of eve teasing were coming to the fore and police had launched a campaign to create an atmosphere wherein the womenfolk could live happily without any difficulties like domestic violence and eve teasing.

   

Mughal said that posters will be pasted in public transport and the other places to create awareness in this regard.

Asked whether domestic violence cases were also on the rise, the SSP said that the increase in population is certainly leading to an increase in such cases, adding that such cases have mounted due to the mental stress in the wake of loss in businesses and lockdown during COVID outbreak.

Over the establishment of special police stations for women, SSP Srinagar said that although there is a need of establishing special police stations for women, but for now, the ladies police have been deputed at every police station to look into the issues of women.
