Opposition parties on Monday walked out of Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly to protest against the power crisis in the state, especially in Kashmir valley.

Accusing the Power Minister and Deputy CM Nirmal Singh of taking the house ‘for-granted’,  National Conference general secretary and MLA Khanyar said that “Kashmiris are being deliberately made to suffer” by the government.

“You are showing leniency towards your power minister who has failed,” Sagar addressed the government as he walked-out of the House. “You are shielding your power minister.”

Unsatisfied over the response of power minister over the delay in completion of a receiving station in Srinagar, Sagar accused the government of “deliberately making Kashmiris suffer.”

He also accused the speaker Kavinder Gupta of taking directions from “unknown forces”. “You are bulldozing the opposition,” he told Gupta.

Singh was also questioned over return of power projects and fixing of responsibility of missing of MoU of Dul Hasti power project.

Following Sagar,  Altaf Kaloo of NC and Usman Majeed and Vikar Rasool of Congress also left the house.  (With inputs from KNS)
