Palhalan youth's killing: Geelani terms govt probe as 'eyewash'

Greater Kashmir

The innocent people are killed in the name of so-called law and order maintenance.

Rejecting the probe ordered by government into the killing of Farooq Ahmad Bhat of Palhalan, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani today said that ‘such inquiries have yielded nothing in the past and will bear no result in the present case.’

“The innocent people are killed in the name of so-called law and order maintenance. The probe ordered into the Palhalan killing is not new in Kashmir, it is the old method and its purpose is just to calm down the public anger and nothing else. There are hundreds of probes pending in Jammu and Kashmir and till date no involved personal has been tried or punished,”

Geelani said in a statement today, adding that “This probe will also meet the same fate; the real killers will be set free and relatives of deceased person will be implicated and chargesheeted. These probes are mere eyewash and deliberately ordered to buy time. We will accept only the impartial inquiry by any independent international agency or United Nation Organizations.”
