PATTAN MAN'S DEATH|Family stages protest, demands culprits be nabbed

Family members of a Pattan man, who was found dead in mysterious circumstances on 22 March after he had gone missing for 13 days, staged a protest at the Press Colony here on Wednesday demanding the culprits to be nabbed.

The protesting family members along with locals held placards and raised slogans.

The family members said that Jan Mohammad, a driver by profession from Mamoosa Pattan had left his home on 22 March and his body was retrieved 13 days later from a nullah in Chaenbal.

“He left early in the morning for business related work. 13 days later we received his dead body. He had no rivalry with anyone and we are clueless who ‘killed’ him. We want police to nab his murderers, we are feeling unsafe in our own home following his murder,” said Shamshada, wife of deceased.

“He was our only bread winner. Police had assured us that case will be solved within 10 days, but it has been a month now and his murderers are roaming free,” she said.

Jan Muhammad is survived by his parents, wife and a handicapped brother. The family some days back blocked Baramulla highway in protest against the “murder” of their kin.
