PDP, BJP still in alliance in Jammu and Kashmir: NC

National Conference on Wednesday lashed out atPeoples Democratic Party saying that the party was still in alliance with theBharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and hand-in-glove to influence the polls by”deceit and deception.”

Senior National Conference (NC) leaders, in a jointstatement, said: “We have credible information about PDP soliciting the adviceand direction of the BJP for fielding candidates, convenient to it, forJammu-Poonch and Kathua-Udhampur parliamentary constituencies to facilitatedivision of anti-BJP votes in order to ensuring the victory of BJP candidates.”

The NC leaders said that the arrangement ofconvenience is in its final stage.

National Conference leaders accused the PDP ofbrightening BJP prospect in the two parliamentary constituencies by fieldingthose candidates who can divide anti-BJP votes.

The NC leader said: “PDP, which is essentially aproduct of BJP, did it covertly in 2009 and overtly in 2014. PDP’s anti-BJPposturing is a façade. They are on the same page. BJP is in the process ofgiving names of the candidates convenient to PDP, who can cut votes and havefield day for its own candidates.

The leaders also saw a larger and sinister design inwithdrawing the support to PDP led government in Jammu and Kashmir last year.

“All this drama was enacted to offset the growingcriticism within BJP core constituency across the country over aligning with ananti-national party. By adopting this modus operandi, the PDP and BJP wereactually complementing and supplementing each other in their respectiveconstituencies by taking ‘North Pole South Pole’ posturing,” said the leaders,in the statement.

National Conference lashed out at PDP for”compromising” with the interests of the people at a time when the State was atcross roads of its history and passing through most difficult times with inimicalelements hell bent upon trampling its status and special identity.

They said that the arrangement appears to be a worstkind of quid pro quo with the PDP expecting loaves of power once the BJP issettled in Delhi throne for another five years.

“The PDP is playing villain to the people, who aredetermined to uphold their special and unique identity, irrespective ofregional and religious affiliations”, National Conference leaders said andwarned the PDP for playing with fire by indulging in double speak and murkypolitics.

They termed the PDP’s so-called extreme posturing inthe Valley as well-played role of a smart storyline scripted in Nagpur withsinister motivation of facilitating BJP victory in the backdrop of Kashmirlocale, making it a theatre of cross border conflict.

“Electors of Jammu and Kashmir will not oblige thePDP and the BJP to succeed in their dubious plot as they are politicallymatured enough to read between the lines”, the leaders said.
