District organising secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party Srinagar, Aijaz Ahmad Rather, on Thursday tendered his resignation from the basic membership of the party.
In a letter addressed to the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti,Aijaz has written: “With deepdisappointment over the party affairs being run by the PDP leadership, it hasbecome clear to me that I will not be able to fulfill my party responsibilityhenceforth. During my long association with this party I have witnessed manyphases wherein this party was trying to prove as a viable politicalalternative. But in light of the present situation within the party, I havecome to conclusion that the party is not following the principles of democracywhich formed basis of its creation. I hereby tender resignation from my basicmembership.”
