President of the Congress party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit G A Mir Thursday said the Peoples Democratic Party was responsible for the prevailing situation in Kashmir valley especially its southern parts.
“PDP is fullyresponsible for prevailing situation in valley especially in South Kashmir,besides loss of lives and regular incidents of violence because of its betrayaland political exploitation,” a spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh CongressCommittee (JKPCC) said in a statement issued here Thursday, quoting Mir.
The JKPCC president was addressing public meetings atPanzgam, Nad, Varel Kund in Devsar assembly constituency in district Kulgam.
Mir claimed that Congress was fully capable to defeat’communal and fascist’ forces both in the country and J&K state.
“These fascist forces are hell bent upon abrogating specialstatus granted to Jammu and Kashmir and Congress is determined to defeat themand their nefarious designs,” Mir said, appealing to the people to remainvigilant about the designs of PDP and other ‘opportunist’ parties that werefully dependent on ‘falsehood and deceit to exploit’ the people.
“I feel confident that people of south Kashmir and elsewherein J&K have realized as to what PDP is doing to mislead them again,” thestatement quoted Mir as having said.
Along with PDP, Mir also hit out at BJP and others for’misleading’ people on various sensitive issues concerning J&K forelectoral gains.
“The policy of falsehood and deceit adopted by these partieshas made the lives of people in Kashmir impossible. We seek people’s support toput an end to the drama being staged by PDP from time to time to generatesympathy after failing people on all fronts.”
Asserting that Congress Party can protect the special statusof J&K and ensure equitable development of all the three regions of thestate, Mir lashed out at BJP president Amit Shah over repeatedly raking up theissues of Article 370 in his election rallies to a ‘mislead’ people.
“The fact of the matter remains that BJP cannot even touchit as the Article 370 works as a bridge between state and the centre. Besidesthat, it has the emotional binding with the people in J&K,” Mir said.
“Whatever Narinder Modi or Amit Shah say in their ralliesfor public consumption is far from reality. Both of them want to change thenarrative, which will be defeated tooth and nail.”
Mir said that communal and fascist forces were hell bent todivide the people of J&K on religious and regional lines.
“But the Congress being the only unifying force in thecountry and state will thwart their designs,” he said.
Mir also hit out at PDP for ensuring inroads to BJP and RSSin the state, saying that many right thinking people had advised PDP leadershipnot to align with the BJP.
“This party (BJP) has remained hell bent to abrogate specialstatus for gaining political mileage in the country but the PDP leadershipturned a deaf ear and compromised on their core agenda for the sake of comingto power,”
